Write Winning Grant Proposals

In this workshop, the emphasis will be on idea development and tips and strategies that are of proven value in presenting an applicant’s case to reviewers. Participants will be taught to organize their presentations into a linear progression of logic that leads reviewers through their applications.

About the Presenter

John Robertson was recruited to teach grantsmanship by Grant Writers' Seminars and Workshops in 2010. He has been the recipient of competitive extramural funding from the NIH and non-federal sources. He is the author of 27 peer-reviewed journal articles and three book chapters. He has been a member of grant review panels, a reviewer for a number of biomedical journals, and served on editorial boards. He has also served as a mentor for grant applicants at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he has also been routinely recognized for excellence in teaching.

Schedule

Check-in begins at 7:45 a.m. in the Memorial Union Sunroom; presentation from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a lunch break at noon-1 p.m. (lunch on your own).

Materials

All participants are required to purchase a workbook. Workbooks, chosen when registering, will be available at the registration desk. You will be billed for the selected workbook(s) by your college after the workshop. You will select from the following when registering (must choose one but may choose more than one): NIH SF424 edition ($75), NSF edition ($75), Successful Proposals to Any Agency ($70), and USDA/NIFA ($75).

We have limited space this year and can seat only 150 people. Preference will be given to faculty and staff (including postdocs) before we open it to graduate students.
